CEO and Chairman of the Board of Mid-West Terminal Warehouse Company Named Kansas City Transportation Person of the Year.

For Immediate Release: October 19, 2000

(Kansas City, MO) Rod LaMothe, CEO and Chairman of the Board, of Mid-West Terminal Warehouse Company was honored as the Transportation Person of the Year by the Kansas City Transportation Association (KCTA) at a grand banquet held on October 19, 2000 at the Argosy Ballroom in Kansas City.

Mr. LaMothe was awarded this honor in recognition of the many contributions he has made to the transportation industry in Kansas City and across the country. He has served as a leader in the industry in many capacities, including Chairman of International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA), formerly the American Warehouse Association, in 1980; Chairman of the International Federation of Public Warehousing Association in 1988; and President of the Kansas City Warehouse Association, Missouri Warehouse Association and the Mid-America Warehouse Association early in his career.

Mid-West Terminal Warehouse Company is a public warehouse and Missouri River terminal operator and an industrial real estate developer located in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. LaMothe was sent to Kansas City in 1963 by his father, Charles J. LaMothe, CEO of St. Louis Terminal Warehouse Company to run the company’s Kansas City operations. Since that time Mr. LaMothe has developed over two million square feet of industrial warehouse space in Kansas City and built the Kansas City Municipal Wharf to be one of the largest public terminals on the Missouri River.

Rod LaMothe is the third Mid-West Terminal employee to receive KCTA’s Person of the Year award. Loren Lundy received the honor in 1972 and John Madgett received the honor in 1989.

Through his leadership and involvement in groups such as the Northeast Industrial Association and the Kansas City Industrial Council Mr. LaMothe has been a integral part of the development and growth of the Greater Kansas City Area.

In addition to the recognition received by the Kansas City Transportation Association Mr. LaMothe received a special honor from the City of Kansas City, Missouri. On the afternoon of October 19th the Mayor and City Council passed Resolution No. 001429 recognizing Mr. LaMothe for his accomplishments in the transportation industry and the many contributions he has made in rebuilding and promoting the growth of Kansas City’s industrial base.

The reason for honoring Mr. LaMothe can best be summed in the words of one of the speakers, who honored him at the banquet,

"You have led us down a path, and it has been a good path, and it has been a successful path, and for that we are very grateful."
